JOINING BMC:
Welcome to the BMC family!
BMC is a close-knit family that always love to welcome new members into the fold. 1 Corinthians 12:12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. We believe the local church is more than just what happens on a Sunday. It is a place where you can belong, grow and serve. We know this happens best in community. Any person can join our services and partake in Holy Communion (adherents). Adherents are persons linked with the life of the church who are not full members or members on trial (currently being confirmed). You need to be a member to volunteer for any leadership position at the church, to join a class or an organization, to baptize your children or to attend out Annual Society Meeting (ASM). To really belong and participate we would encourage you to become a member.
To become a family member of BMC (or also the Methodist Church of SA) you need to be confirmed by any of the Church Unity Commission Churches (CUC): Anglican/Presbyterian/United Congregational Church or Methodist.
IF YOU HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED BY A CUC CHURCH, we require you to complete a membership form and supply a transfer letter (or confirmation of membership) from your previous minister, and you will be invited to join Welcome to BMC to find out more about us. Welcome to BMC is compulsory to all wanting to join the BMC family and will normally be held 3-4 times annually on a Saturday morning. Once attended, you will be welcomed into the BMC community at your next Sunday service.
IF YOU HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED BY A CUC CHURCH, we require you to complete a membership form and supply a transfer letter (or confirmation of membership) from your previous minister, and you will be invited to join Welcome to BMC to find out more about us. Welcome to BMC is compulsory to all wanting to join the BMC family and will normally be held 3-4 times annually on a Saturday morning. Once attended, you will be welcomed into the BMC community at your next Sunday service.
IF YOU JOIN US FROM ANOTHER DENOMINATION OR THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE APPLYING FOR CHURCH MEMBERSHIP the following will apply to you: You will be invited to Welcome to BMC, be required to attend the 8-week confirmation classes and will then be received as a full member at the next Membership Reception Service. You can then be allocated to a class, organization or home group.
If you are under 18, you will be asked to undergo Youth Confirmation with our Youth Pastor. This runs for 7-8 months every year.
PLEASE NOTE: All your information given on our membership form will be captured on our database and will only be used for internal use and will never be disclosed without your permission. We will only transfer you or delete your information on your request.
Please ensure you are up to date with what is happening at BMC by: joining our WhatsApp group, sign up for our newsletter “In Touch” and following the church notices on a Sunday.
We encourage members to become part of our church by joining a small group, and attend the courses, retreats, and events we organize.
